IFRS Intermediate Accounting I tutoring

Listening, restructuring and following through

Selected as an Outstanding Group. I listened to where my tutee was stuck, rebuilt the explanation in a clearer order and prepared additional materials after sessions.

01

I asked where they were stuck first.

Instead of pushing through my prepared order, I listened to where my tutee struggled and restarted the explanation from there.

02

I rebuilt explanations to fit the learner.

Rather than repeating myself, I used comparison tables, examples and my own materials so my tutee could understand them even when reviewing alone.

03

I followed up on questions after sessions ended.

For a question sent after class, I re-worked the entire calculation from scratch on three A4 pages. Whether they truly understood mattered more than filling the scheduled time.

04

Teaching taught me even more.

Explaining someone else's question exposed gaps in what I only vaguely knew. Asking and answering together led to deeper understanding than studying alone.

Original documents (in Korean)

Summarized three learning strategies combining self-made materials, worked examples and recorded videos.

Linked explanations, worked examples and re-watchable recordings into one learning flow.

Rewrote technical terms in simple sentences, split into key concepts, points to remember and examples.

Compared easily confused concepts, such as impairment vs. revaluation, by criteria and treatment.

After a follow-up question, redrew the bond's cash flows on a timeline to explain the problem's structure first.

Worked through the link between present value and the effective interest rate step by step.

Connected the results to the actual accounting treatment and journal entries for the financial asset.

Re-checking the basics to explain them revealed gaps in my own understanding and made it stronger.
